GROVE CITY, Pa. – Freshman Madison Sharek put together another very strong round of golf on Thursday at the Grove City Spring Invitational held at Grove City Country Club, shooting a 78, earning medalist honors. None of the other 60 golfers were within four strokes of Sharek. As a team the women placed seventh out of 11 schools at the invitational, shooting a team score of 388.
Sharek started her round very well, and through nine holes she was at even par, with one birdie and one bogey. She shot six over during the back nine, adding another birdie to her list to card a 78, just two strokes off her school record total she shot during the fall.
Senior Sabienea Winston was next for the ladies, carding a 93, while senior Karlee Bittner carded a 99. Sophomore Sydney Peasley rounded out the quartet, shooting a 118.
The women will return to action on Monday with a round at the W&J Peter C. Rossin Memorial Invitation, which is held at the Southpointe Golf Club. Team time is at 11:00 a.m.
