BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – As Head Coach Geno DeMarco enters his 33^rd and final season at the helm of the Geneva College football program, he is now the longest tenured coach at one school of any coach in college football, at any level.  Tim Clifton, who coached at Mars Hill University in NCAA Division II and was entering his 33^rd season, announced last month that he was stepping down immediately, and his replacement has already been hired to coach this season.

DeMarco has been a staple in the Geneva College football program for over 40 years.  He graduated from New Brighton High School in 1979 and after a year, played on the Geneva football team as a student from 1981-83, and after graduation he spent three years as an assistant at Georgia Tech and West Virginia before returning to the Golden Tornadoes as an assistant under Geneva Hall of Fame Coach Gene Sullivan.  When Sullivan stepped down at the end of 1992, DeMarco was promoted to Head Coach, keeping Sullivan, his mentor and friend, on the staff.

DeMarco has gone on to have a Hall of Fame career over the last 32 seasons, totaling 167 career wins, more than double any other football coach in Geneva history.  He's already been inducted into the New Brighton Hall of Fame, the Beaver County Hall of Fame and the National Christian College Athletic Association Hall of Fame, and he has a place waiting for him in the Geneva Hall of Fame after he retires.

DeMarco plans to continue to support the program after this season as an assistant coach and a mentor to whoever is hired to replace him, hoping to be a support to the new coach in the same way that Sullivan was such a support to him when DeMarco took over the head coaching role in 1993.
