BELLE VERNON, Pa. – Sophomore Madison Sharek had another impressive showing on the course over the past two days while competing at the California (PA) Vulcan Invitational, hosted at Cedarbrook Golf Course.  Sharek was the only Division III golfer at the meet, competing against 31 Division II golfers, and she more than held her own by placing in a tie for fifth overall.
 
Sharek put together a strong first round on Monday, carding a 79 which placed her in a tie for fourth place, just one stroke out of second.  That put her in a strong position for Tuesday's final round.  Sharek got off to a rough start over her first four holes on Tuesday, but she rebounded well and finished with an 82.  Her two-day total of 161 put her in a tie with two other golfers for fifth overall.
 
Sharek will join the rest of her teammates on Saturday at the Franciscan Fall Invitational, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Steubenville Country Club.
