GREENWOOD, Ind. – Five members of the Geneva College women's soccer team were honored by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday with Academic All-District honors. Senior Anna Ulmer, juniors Noelle Beare, Abby Stover and Elliana Zwatty, along with sophomore Rebekah Dick, all received distinction for their performance both on the field and in the classroom.
To be eligible for the academic all-district team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and hold a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50. The student-athletes must also have played in at least 90 percent of their team's games or been a starter in at least 66 percent of contests.
Ulmer is a two-sport athlete, also playing for Geneva's basketball team, who is majoring in engineering. She started all 18 games for the women this year along the defensive backline, rarely coming off the field. She also scored a goal while earning All-PAC honors.
Beare is also an engineering major who started all 18 games for the Golden Tornadoes, playing primarily as an outside back. She played the second most minutes of any field player, scoring a goal and assisting on two others while earning All-PAC honors for her play.
Stover is an English major and played in 15 games, while starting 14 games. She played primarily up top, but also helped out in other areas of the field. She scored a goal and assisted on another score.
Zwatty is an elementary and special education major who played in 16 games for the women, starting 13 games while playing primarily an attacking role for the Golden Tornadoes.
Dick is a communication media and rhetoric major who played in 17 games, starting 10, playing both in the midfield and along the defensive backline.
