BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Freshman setter Kyla Kephart has already made a noticeable impact on the Geneva women's volleyball program over the first couple weeks of her collegiate career. When the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) released its weekly awards Monday afternoon, she was recognized for her efforts by being named the PAC women's volleyball Newcomer of the Week.

With Geneva running a two-setter rotation this season, Kephart won one of the available spots in preseason alongside junior Laura Goonewardene, and the two have been splitting setting duties since the beginning of the season, with much success. Last week, Kephart finished with 81 assists (4.76 per set), 39 digs  (2.29 per set), 11 aces, and five kills across five matches for the Golden Tornadoes, helping Geneva to a 3-2 record in those games, including three sweeps.

Kephart began the week with a 16-assist, six-dig effort in the GTs' sweep of Penn State Shenango on Wednesday. She then put together one of the best performances of her young career in Geneva's first match on Friday, registering 29 assists, 11 digs, and five aces in another sweep, this time over Warren Wilson. In the final two matches of the Golden Tornadoes' weekend tournament, she recorded 17 assists, seven digs, and three aces in a win over Piedmont before putting out 16 assists, ten digs, and a career-high five aces in a five-set loss to Eastern Mennonite.

The Golden Tornadoes will play their next four matches away from home, beginning with a road tilt at Division II Point Park on Wednesday, September 16. That match will begin at 7:00 p.m.
