PAC Releases Preseason Poll as Women’s Soccer Prepares for Second Season under Fitz

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva College women's soccer team is preparing for its second season under Head Coach Micah Fitz as he continues to lay the groundwork for the program to grow in success.  In preparation for the upcoming season, the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) released its preseason poll, as voted on by the coaches.  The Golden Tornadoes were picked tenth in the conference, with Grove City receiving eight of eleven first place votes to take the top spot.

Geneva had a big class of graduating seniors that departed the program after last season, including eight players who started at least nine matches.  The women's top three scorers from last year are all gone, giving Fitz several positions in which he'll need to find replacements.  The Golden Tornadoes have just two seniors returning to lead the program, defensive starters Olivia Reath and Anna Ulmer.

The women have five juniors returning, led by starters Noelle Beare and Abby Stover, along with reserves Julianna Easley, Madalyn Fales and Elliana Zwatty.  Sophomore Rebekah Dick also returns after moving into the starting lineup late in the season.

Fitz has a big incoming class of 13 newcomers joining the program, including 12 freshmen and one transfer from Robert Morris, junior Renae Mohrbacher.  That class is one of the largest in program history, and several of those newcomers will likely see the field early as the Golden Tornadoes work to replace last year's departed starters.

Geneva opens its season with a busy weekend.  The Golden Tornadoes play at Juniata on Friday, August 29, before coming home and hosting Baldwin Wallace the following day in their home opener on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. on Reeves Field.
