Dave Salmen (1980-84)
Induction Class of 2019

Dave Salmen is only one of a handful of Geneva College athletes to have ever signed a professional contract. In the midst of his stand-out career, Salmen signed a contract with the Cincinnati Reds in 1982. He eventually returned to College Hill to complete his career with the Golden Tornadoes. He still holds the single season record for his .798 slugging percentage in 1983, which was the same year he set and still holds the school record for a 22-game hitting streak. For his career, Salmen compiled a career batting average of .384, which ranks him in Geneva’s all-time top ten, while also posting 148 RBI’s, which is third highest in school history. He was named an NAIA All-American in 1983.
