Jim Jackson
Despite never playing tennis formally until his arrival at Geneva, Jackson joined the men’s tennis program as a junior in 1962 and immediately became one of the top players in the area. He led Geneva to a victory at the West Penn Conference Tournament his junior season, and his senior season, he acted as a player-coach after Geneva’s head coach fell ill.
Jim also was a member of the men's basketball team at Geneva College bringing a new style of basketball from his hometown, Selma, AL. As a point guard and shooting guard, he served as the team's captain in 1962. He attracted many fans and allowed them to add excitement to the game because of his aggressive style of play offensively and defensively. Jim, "The Jet", contributed for about 20% of the offense during his time on the team.
