Joseph Beggs
Beggs was a standout on the track and field team during his time at Geneva in the early 1930s, winning the state javelin title. Beggs went on to play baseball professionally (Geneva did not have a baseball team while Beggs was in school), spending nine seasons with the New York Yankees, Cincinnati Reds and New York Giants as a pitcher. He helped the Reds to the 1940 World Series championship.
